US recovery to continue

PricewaterhouseCoopers has updated its 2012 US forecast to forecast revpar growth of 7.8% and 6.5% in 2011 and 2012, respectively.

Administrators are reported to have been appointed to a 218-room hotel in Birmingham owned by Stephen Beetham.

Kerzner opens in China

Kerzner has announced a deal to open its first One&Only resort in China. The resort at Tufu Bay, Sanya in Hainan province will have 180 rooms and villas and opens in 2014.

Edwardian chief in family battle

Jasminder Singh, head of Radisson Edwardian Hotels, is being sued by his father. The court case accuses Singh of not sharing his fortune with his family.

Two more for Andaz

Hyatt is to reflag hotels in Napa and Savannah to grow its Andaz chain to eight. The Andaz in Napa will be refurbished to provide 141 rooms. In Savannah, the Andaz will open with 151 rooms after refit.

Berlin double for Invesco

Investment manager Invseco Real Estate has bought two hotels in Berlin to add to its hotel fund. The EUR60m sale and leaseback deal is with Azure Property Group, for a 242 room Holiday Inn and 153 room Indigo.

US recovery to continue

PricewaterhouseCoopers has updated its 2012 US forecast to forecast revpar growth of 7.8% and 6.5% in 2011 and 2012, respectively.

"Business travel has recovered strongly, despite a consistent headwind facing the economy. Continued improvement in travel in general, and the return of corporate meetings and events, particularly in primary US markets, is expected to drive revpar recovery in 2012," said Scott D. Berman, principal and US industry leader, hospitality & leisure, PwC.
